What Water Heater System is Best for You?

These are the most conventional water heaters due to their lower costs and high energy output. They have been the standard home water heater for decades, and for good reason! These heaters operate by submerging the heating elements in water, ensuring high energy conservation. They're also ideal for average-sized homes and families. They come in a variety of sizes, allowing them to be installed in multiple locations, such as in the garage, attic, or hidden by cabinetry!

Electric Tank Water Heater

Why You Should Consider Experts Plumbing Services

Growing in popularity, electric tankless water heaters are more compact, yet they can produce much larger amounts of hot water compared to their tank-style counterparts. These heaters provide continuous hot water whenever you want, and they only run while in use, which saves you money in the long run. There are often some initial changes required when switching from a tank-style heater to a tankless one, but our Expert Plumbers will inform you of all the necessary requirements so that you may better make a decision for yourself and family.

While not available in all situations, a natural gas-powered water heater offers all of the same benefits as a traditional electric tank-style heater, and much more. Natural gas as a fuel source is often cheaper than electricity, so powering your unit will be cheaper over time. With their faster recovery rates, meaning hot water is retained for longer, you are less likely to run out of hot water, making these heaters ideal for larger families who may need hot water in multiple locations at the same time! These heaters come in both conventional tank-style as well as tankless varieties. There are some extra cautionary steps that need to be taken when installing and using a gas-powered water heater, mostly in regards to correct and proper ventilation. Because of this, like the tankless-style water heater, there are some initial extra costs when converting from one fuel source to another, but leave it to our Expert Plumbers to install your new system properly and safely.

Similar to the natural-gas powered units, Propane or LP gas can be used as a fuel source as well. These water heaters operate the same way, but are instead connected to a propane storage tank. They also come in both tank-style and tankless varieties! Propane is a cleaner-burning fuel source as well, so these heaters provide you with quick and continuous hot water while being greener. These water heaters are ideal for rugged or rural areas, where other fuel sources are unavailable or too costly. They are also great for hurricane season, being able to run even if your home loses power! Here in Florida, they are becoming extremely popular, as you can also tie in a propane-powered whole-home generator. However, the costs of propane vary by location and region, so it may not be ideal in all situations. And, like the above styles of water heaters, there will be some extra initial work required if you are converting from one style to another. For propane heaters, you will also need to plan an appropriate location for your propane tank to be installed.

Other Types of Water Heaters

Although the above water heater types are the most commonly found and reccomended, there are several other types that may be more appropriate for you! There are heat-pump water heaters, also known as "hybrid water heaters" that combine the heating methods of both tank and tankless styles. Although they tend to be the largest style on the market, and unfortunately the most costly upfront, they can provide instant hot water for longer effective lifespan than other conventional types. There are also solar powered water heaters for the more eco-conscious, and old school heat retention water heaters that work in tandem with your air conditioning unit.
